Izidora Angel is a Bulgarian-born memoirist, essayist and literary translator based in Chicago. Her writing has appeared in A Public SpaceAstra Magazine, Best Literary Translations 2024, Chicago Reader, Electric Literature, Gulf Coast, and elsewhere. Izidora’s work has been recognized by the National Endowment for the Arts, English PEN, ART OMI, the Elizabeth Kostova Foundation and Bread Loaf, among others, and her book-length translations are on the syllabuses at The University of Chicago, Oberlin, and Lake Forest College. Her translation of Rene Karabash’s She Who Remains won a PEN/Heim Translation Fund Grant and the Gulf Coast Prize in Translation and is forthcoming in the US from Sandorf Passage. Izidora was awarded a Sozopol Seminars fellowship for her in-progress memoir, Solomon’s Daughter, a long-form excerpt from which is forthcoming in The American Scholar
